A New York woman says she was assaulted and sexually assaulted by two men while wearing a hijab.
The assault took place during a shopping trip to New York City.
The incident happened on January 10, 2018, in the city’s Central Park.
“I was in Central Park with my two friends,” the woman, who asked not to be named, told Vice News.
“We were in a shopping cart with two women who were in hijab and we were wearing our hijab.
They kept talking, they started talking about me. “
One of the women said something to the other, but I don’t remember what.
I was like, ‘What did she say?'” “
The other one said something, but that’s not my recollection.
I was like, ‘What did she say?'”
The woman said she thought she was going to get a call from the police, but instead she says she went to a police station.
She was questioned for about three hours, but was released.
“They told me they would call me tomorrow,” she told Vice.
“My boyfriend called me after that.”
She added that she’s been attacked by similar incidents in other countries.
“In the States, we don’t have any legislation to protect women wearing hijab, so it’s very scary.
The police just have no idea what to do,” she said.
The woman told Vice that she decided to go public with her story after seeing the video of the incident.
“This happened in Central City, New York, and this was just another incident.
I’m sure this will happen again.
I just don’t want people to be afraid,” she added.
